GalileoScope Workshop and Night Viewing at Hobbs Friday November 16

     Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area is offering a unique hands-on Astronomy workshop, Friday November 16 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the park’s visitor center on Hwy 12 just east of the Hwy 12/ War Eagle Road intersection.  Participants will build their own full-scale working model of the telescope used by Galileo 400 years ago.  The workshop is for those 10 years and up, and has proven to be an enriching family experience.

NWA Mercy Family YMCA Celebrates One Year

The Northwest Arkansas Mercy Family YMCA, a branch of the Tri-State Family YMCA celebrates its first year as a Y with walls. In honor of its one year anniversary, the Mercy Y invites area residents to join in the celebration 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at the Mercy Y, located at 5214 Village Parkway, Rogers, AR 72758. This event will highlight YMCA programs, services and future endeavors.

Sen. John McCain Comes to NWA, Thanks Fellow Vets

Hundreds gathered for a special Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony put on by Walmart on the Bentonville Square Saturday.

Former presidential candidate and U.S. Senator John McCain stood in front of hundreds, thanking his fellow veterans for their service and commitment to our country.

“Many people ask me, what is it that brought you through? Well, basically, it`s very simple, it`s three things: faith in God, faith in one`s fellow prisoners, and faith in one`s country,” McCain said.

Parks and Recreation Names Park after Long Serving Aldermen

Bentonville Parks and Recreation is proud to announce the name of its newest park: Austin ~ Baggett Park. The park is located at 601 SE D Street. A Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday, November 10, 2012.  A neighborhood cookout will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 11:30 a.m.
