JBU Student Newspaper Wins Honors at State Competition

The Arkansas College Media Association announced John Brown University Senior Jenny Redfern as the 2013 Editor of the Year at Friday’s annual gathering.

“This past year as Editor-in-Chief has been incredibly challenging, yet so rewarding,” said Redfern. “I am just so grateful for my staff and the countless hours they poured into making the student newspaper the best it could be.”

ACBSP Awards JBU Initial Accreditation of its Business Programs

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners has awarded John Brown University initial accreditation of its business programs.

ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the College of Business at John Brown University meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP. The programs accredited include undergraduate, graduate and degree completion business programs.

Truck Accidentally Scatters Chicken on Rogers Street

A chicken truck lost its load in front of Rockwell Farms Nursery in Rogers Tuesday morning (May 7).

For several blocks a George’s Chicken truck scattered live and dead chickens on Hudson Road. Police reports say several people stopped and helped get the chickens safely out of the road. Arkansas Game and Fish officers stopped the truck driver and told him he was losing part of his load.

The company sent crews out to clean up the mess.  Luckily the spill didn’t cause any accidents, according to Rogers Officer Keith Foster.

JBU Student Marketing Team Finalist for Effie Award

A student strategic marketing team from John Brown University has been selected as one of the top three finalists for the 2013 MINI USA and Effie Collegiate Brand Challenge. As a finalist, the team has been invited to the MINI USA’s headquarters in New Jersey to present its marketing strategies to the MINI USA marketing team and executives on May 10.

ER Kids Fair & Health Expo, May 4

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital (SSRH) will host its first ER Kids Fair & Health Expo for the whole family from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 on the hospital grounds – 603 N. Progress Ave.

“Saturday’s fair and health expo will have vendors and screenings for both children and adults,” said SSRH Marketing and Business Development Director Cathy Davis. “This year, we really wanted to have an event that catered to the whole family. And when CEO Kevin Clement mentioned an ER kids fair – it was a perfect fit.”
