Legacy National Bank Announces Ground Breaking of Rogers Pinnacle Banking Center

The Board of Directors and Shareholders of Legacy National Bank officially announced its new Pinnacle Banking Center with a groundbreaking ceremony today.  Legacy’s Pinnacle Banking Center will be located at 4901 W. Pauline Whitaker Parkway and is scheduled to open in early fall of 2014.

Local Music Benefit Album Raises $9,000 for Homeless Students

A music album produced last fall featuring the music of local bands/musicians raised $9,000 to help area homeless students. The album, "Sounds Made in Mountains Vol. 2," is the second of its nature funded by First Security Bank.

According to the 2013 Northwest Arkansas Point-in-Time Homeless Census conducted by the Communities and Family Institute at the University of Arkansas, there are an estimated 2,249 homeless individuals in Northwest Arkansas. More than half of the area’s homeless population was enrolled in kindergarten through 12th grade.

JB and the Moonshine Band bring their Texas country music for a free show at Cherokee Casino & Hotel West Siloam Springs

Four strangers walked into a Tyler, Texas, bar in 2009 and left as JB and the Moonshine Band. Since that fateful day, the band has been climbing the country music charts.

On Sept. 13 at 10:30 p.m., JB and the Moonshine Band will play a show at SEVEN Bar, located inside Cherokee Casino West Siloam Springs. Nashville’s Dusty Hundley will begin the night’s free entertainment at 7 p.m.

Job Fair: Aug. 19-22 in Rogers

Serco Inc. is conducting its first job interview fair in Rogers August 19-22
from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Applicants should go to the Center for Nonprofits @ St. Mary’s located
along South 13th Street and West Poplar in Downtown Rogers to apply in person.
Interviews will be scheduled either the same day or later in the week.

NWA Mustang Club and Modern Woodmen of America Team Up to Help Victims of Domestic Violence

The Northwest Arkansas Mustang Club recently hosted a charity car show at the annual Lowell Mudtown Days. The purpose of the show was to have fun and raise money for the Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter.

The show was a great success and the club was able to raise $2,500 for the Women’s Shelter.  This amount was generously matched by the Modern Woodmen of America, Fraternal Financial for a grand total of $5,000 donated to the Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter.

The Operation Renewal Team is incorporating a new program in their arsenal to help families of service members on the career front.

The media headlines reflect a bleak reality for returning vets: "As Wars End, Young Veterans Return to Scant Jobs". These reports are echoed by employment statistics.

According to U.S Department of Labor, unemployment among recent veterans was at 13.7 percent in 2012, more than four percentage points higher than the national average. More than two million military veterans are expected to transition to the civilian workforce by 2016.
