Free Alzheimer’s training available to local family caregivers

Northwest Arkansas families caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia
have a source of help from the local Home Instead Senior Care through both in-person and online training
opportunities.

The local Home Instead Senior Care® office, based in the Frisco Station Mall in Rogers, is offering an unique
approach to help northwest Arkansas families manage the challenges of Alzheimer’s and other dementias,
which are diseases that eventually rob seniors of their memories and independence.

Free training for families caring for these older adults is now available through live in-person training
workshops held by Home Instead Senior Care or through online e-learning modules, available at
HelpForAlzheimersFamilies.com. The workshops are from the Alzheimer’s or Other Dementias CARE:
Changing Aging through Research and Education Training Program (See below for more details)
The series of four family caregiver workshops will be offered 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, starting on Feb.
12, at the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce Baggett/Trammel Conference Room at the Rogers
chamber office.

The four classes are:
Alzheimer’s Disease or Other Dementias Overview;
Capturing Life’s Journey;
Techniques to Manage Behaviors; and
Activities to Encourage Engagement.

Also available is a free guide for those who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or other
dementias. Called Helping Families Cope, the guide includes advice to help families keep their loved ones
engaged and manage behaviors.

Contact 479-936-9885 for details about the programs.
